The Patriarch’s Palace, also known as the Bishop Palace, is a significant historical complex located within the Archaeological Area of Aquileia in northeastern Italy. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, this structure played a central role in the religious and political life of the region for centuries. The palace is integrated into the broader Basilica complex, which includes the Patriarchal Basilica, the Domus of Titus Macro, and the Baptistery. Together, these sites offer a comprehensive view of early Christian architecture and Roman urban planning.

Visitors can explore the palace as part of the general admission ticket for the archaeological park. The full price is €12.00, with a reduced rate of €9.00 for groups of at least 15 people. School groups of middle and high school students, with a minimum of 15 participants, enter for free. The site is open daily, with hours varying by season; for example, from March to October, it is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM (or 7:00 PM in summer), and on Sundays from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM (or 7:00 PM in summer).

The experience allows travelers to walk through rooms that once housed the powerful Patriarchs of Aquileia, providing insight into the ecclesiastical authority of the Middle Ages. The architecture reflects various historical layers, from Roman foundations to medieval modifications. Group bookings require submission at least five days in advance. The Patriarch’s Palace serves as a vital component of the Aquileia experience, connecting visitors to the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
