Giardino della Minerva

Giardino della Minerva is a beautifully restored terraced botanical garden located in the historic upper part of Salerno, Italy. Originally the medical garden of Matteo Silvatico, a key figure in the renowned Salerno Medical School, it once cultivated healing herbs and "simples" used in medieval medicine. Today, the restored terraces feature fountains, flower beds, and medicinal plants, reconnecting visitors with the region’s rich medical heritage. The garden houses 277 plant species and offers combined access to the “E. Papi” Museum and the Virtual Museum of the Salerno Medical School.

The standard admission fee is €6.00. Reduced rates of €2.00 apply to school groups (with free entry for one accompanying adult), university students, and visitors under 12 or over 70 years old. A €4.00 rate applies to guided tour groups of at least 15 people, and an annual pass is available for €30. Operating hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with the garden closed on Mondays for maintenance. Visitors may remain for an additional 30 minutes after the gate closes. Group visits require mandatory prior booking.

Please note that dogs are prohibited due to the presence of a cat colony and the narrow, steep pathways.
