Museum of the History of Bologna

The Museum of the History of Bologna, housed in Palazzo Pepoli, offers an interactive and theatrical exhibition path detailing the city’s evolution from its Etruscan origins as Felsina to the present day. Located in the heart of Bologna, the museum provides a comprehensive overview of the city’s culture, history, and transformation.

Visitors can explore the exhibits on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays. Booking is mandatory for entry. Visitors must arrive 5 minutes early for their scheduled tour. Cancellations with refunds or changes are allowed up to 24 hours before the start time.

Admission prices vary by category. The full price is €10, which includes museum admission and an audio guide. Reduced tickets cost €7 for groups of 10 or more and companions of Card Cultura holders. Bologna residents with ID, youth aged 13–18, and university students pay €5. Entry is free for children up to 12, people with disabilities (plus one companion), Card Cultura holders, Bologna Welcome Card holders, and licensed tour guides.

The ticket does not include access to the temporary exhibition “Frida Kahlo. The Gaze as Identity,” though a reduced rate is available at the Museum Shop.
