Giardini Margherita

Giardini Margherita is the largest and most popular park in Bologna, covering 26 hectares. Inaugurated in 1879 as Passeggio Regina Margherita, the park maintains most of its original layout, which was inspired by English Romantic gardens. It is located at Viale Giovanni Gozzadini, just a short walk of 15–20 minutes from the historic center. During the park’s creation, an Etruscan burial ground was discovered, and the magnificent travertine grave from this site is located at the side of the central lawn. The park is easily accessible by foot, bike, or local bus, such as line 32. It is free and open 24/7. The best times to visit are in spring or early autumn, particularly during early mornings or late afternoons to avoid crowds.
